Medical Case Consulting provides independent, emergency physician-led case reviews to help families and individuals understand the medical facts and potential concerns in the care provided.
What This Service Is Not
Medical Case Consulting does not provide medical treatment, establish a physician-patient relationship, or replace care from your treating doctors.
This service also does not provide legal advice. Only an attorney can advise you about whether you have a legal claim, whether deadlines apply, whether a lawsuit should be filed, or what damages may be recoverable.

Services
Medical records can be overwhelming, technical, and difficult to interpret without clinical experience. A physician review can help identify what medically matters, what may not matter, and whether there are meaningful concerns.
The goal is to give you a clear, honest medical perspective so you can make a more informed decision about next steps.
Initial Introductory Meeting
A focused introductory meeting with Dr. Yousef. During this meeting, Dr. Yousef will listen to your concerns and help determine whether an independent emergency physician case review may be appropriate.
This meeting will include:
A 15-minute discussion of the medical events and concerns
General guidance on whether a detailed medical case review may be useful
This service is often used by individuals and families who are looking for clarity after a difficult or unexpected medical outcome, and may be considering legal action, but are not yet sure whether a more detailed review would be helpful.
This service is billed at $200. If client proceeds with a Comprehensive Medical Case Review, the introductory meeting fee will be applied towards such service.
Comprehensive Emergency Department Medical Case Review
A comprehensive, Emergency Medicine Board Certified physician review of the available medical records, with up to 10 hours dedicated to evaluating emergency department clinical decision-making, standard medical practice, and the key medical issues in the case, including a comprehensive report followed by a detailed client review meeting.
This review includes:
Review of emergency department, hospital, specialist, EMS, nursing, laboratory, imaging, and discharge records
Identification of key clinical decision points
Assessment of what information was available to the medical team at the time
Discussion of whether the care appears clinically reasonable
Identification of strengths, weaknesses, limitations, and unanswered medical questions
Preparation of a comprehensive written report summarizing the case, key clinical findings, medical decision-making, and any areas of concern, if identified
A post-review question-and-answer call with the client and, if applicable, the client’s attorney to discuss the findings, clarify medical issues, and address any remaining questions about the case
This level of review is intended for clients seeking a thorough evaluation of emergency department care, particularly when they are already in discussions with an attorney or are considering whether to pursue a legal pathway. It provides a detailed medical foundation to help clarify whether the care raises concerns that may warrant further legal evaluation and can assist both clients and their attorneys in understanding the strengths, limitations, and key medical issues in the case.
This service is billed at $6,500.
Important Note About Confidentiality
Medical Case Consulting can work directly with individuals and families. However, in many situations, it may be better for this type of review to be requested through an attorney.
When a medical review is requested directly by a client, the opinions, communications, and written materials may not be protected by attorney-client privilege or attorney work-product protections. That means they may be discoverable if a legal claim is later pursued.
For that reason, if you are already working with an attorney — or believe you may pursue a legal claim — you should consider asking your attorney to request the review on your behalf.

Medical Case Consulting is led by Karl Yousef, MD, a board-certified Emergency Medicine physician based in Phoenix, Arizona.
Dr. Yousef has extensive experience in high-acuity emergency care, including Level I trauma centers, county hospitals, academic emergency departments, pediatric emergencies, cardiac and neurologic emergencies, orthopedic injuries, and time-sensitive diagnostic decision-making.
His consulting work focuses on helping individuals, families, and attorneys understand what happened medically, what information was available at the time, and whether the care appears consistent with reasonable medical practice.
